Description

We're a small, fast-moving software team building web platforms and the desktop tooling that goes with them. We're growing a dedicated platform team and looking for a versatile Python engineer who's happy owning a feature end to end — from a backend API down to the client that consumes it.

You'll work across a server-rendered web application and a cross-platform desktop application, integrating third-party services, handling sensitive data carefully, and shipping reliably.

Requirements

What you'll do

Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs in Python / Django.

Model and evolve relational data, write migrations, and keep the data layer clean.

Extend a cross-platform desktop application built in Python.

Integrate third-party APIs, webhooks, and OAuth / service-account auth flows.

Handle authentication, encryption of sensitive data, and secret management thoughtfully.

Own the full lifecycle: tests, containerized builds, CI/CD, and deployments.

Write clean, tested code and review your teammates' work.

Who you are

You take ownership. You're comfortable picking up an ambiguous problem and driving it to a shipped result without a lot of hand-holding.

You communicate clearly and write things down — async-friendly and remote-ready.

You care about getting the details right, especially around security and data handling.

You're pragmatic: you reach for the simplest solution that works before reaching for a complex one.

You enjoy working across the stack and aren't precious about which layer a problem lives in.

You're a fast learner who's energized by a small team where your work has visible impact.

Experience we value

3+ years of professional Python, with real production experience in Django (or a comparable web framework).

Solid relational database skills (PostgreSQL or similar) — modeling, querying, migrations.

Comfortable with Docker and modern CI/CD workflows.

Experience integrating third-party APIs, webhooks, and auth flows.

A good grasp of authentication and security fundamentals — tokens, encryption, secret management.

Strong testing habits and confident with Git-based collaboration.

Bonus points for:

Building or packaging desktop applications.

Experience with async task queues (e.g., Celery / Redis).

Cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) and networking basics.

A track record of working effectively on small, autonomous teams.

Our stack

Python · Django · PostgreSQL · Celery · Redis · Docker · AWS · pytest
