We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, partner-led firm of chartered accountants, currently looking for a Senior Accountant to take charge of a portfolio of owner-managed business clients from their Central London or Harrow office.

Why This Firm

If you like accounts work that actually leads somewhere, this is worth a look. The firm's clients are owner-managed businesses, from smaller entrepreneurial companies to well-established groups, and many have been with the practice for decades. You'll be the person who really knows their numbers, and you'll be dealing with the people who own them.

It's a growing firm with a small partner group, and it's part of a global accountancy network. Just as importantly, the firm has a track record of promoting from within, with people who joined the team and went on to become partners. For a Senior Accountant, that's a visible ladder rather than a vague promise.

What The Job Actually Involves

  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP, particularly FRS102
  • Producing management accounts and reporting, including budgets, cash flow and performance analysis, using cloud-based software
  • Reviewing bookkeeping and accounting work to make sure client records are accurate and up to date
  • Drafting and reviewing corporation tax computations alongside the tax team
  • Supervising and developing junior team members, including appraisals
  • Acting as a day-to-day contact for clients, working closely with the partners

What You'll Need

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or part-qualified and close to completion
  • Practice experience in accounts preparation, ideally with owner-managed businesses
  • Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and mainstream accounting software
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage deadlines across a busy portfolio
  • Clear communication, with confidence dealing directly with business owners

What's On Offer

A study support package for anyone still completing their qualification, plus regular development events and a clear route towards Manager and beyond. The team is friendly and collaborative, with a deliberately non-corporate culture, and the office is modern and open plan.

If you want a client-facing accounts role with real ownership at a firm that promotes its own people, we'd love to hear from you. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
