Audit Semi-Senior
Our client, a growing, partner-led firm of chartered accountants and registered auditors, is looking for an Audit Semi-Senior to join their London team, with the option of working from either their City of London or Harrow office.
Why This Firm
If you're part-qualified and tired of being one pair of hands on a very large file, this is a firm where you'll be given real ownership early. It describes itself as fast growing, with a small group of partners you'll work alongside rather than see once a year, so the step up from Semi-Senior to Senior is a visible one.
It's also part of a global accountancy network with a presence in well over a hundred countries, and the UK members of that network have featured in the top 10 of the UK accountancy rankings. You get the technical backing and brand of a big name, with the personal feel of a smaller practice.
The client base is mainly ambitious owner-managed businesses across hospitality, construction and property, healthcare, education, retail, not-for-profit and professional practices. Many have been with the firm for decades, some for more than twenty years, so you'll get to know the businesses behind the numbers instead of ticking boxes on someone else's work.
What The Job Actually Involves
- Planning and running straightforward audits across a wide range of client types and sizes, reporting to an Audit Manager and/or Partner
- Keeping jobs within budget and flagging any shortfall early
- Managing client expectations so nobody is surprised at the end of the job
- Supervising trainees, helping them develop and giving constructive appraisals
- Drafting and/or reviewing corporation tax computations
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP, particularly FRS102
What You'll Need
- Part-qualified ACA or ACCA
- Ideally around two years' audit experience in a UK practice
- Good technical ability and sound knowledge of mainstream accounting and audit software
- Supervisory, delegation and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise your workload
- Good communication skills and a hands-on, team-player approach
What's On Offer
A study support package to help you finish your qualification, plus regular development events and a clear route through Senior, Manager and beyond. The culture is collaborative and deliberately non-corporate, with competition kept outside the building rather than inside the team.
If you're ready to lead your own audits and have a firm that's keen to see you progress, we'd love to hear from you. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
