Practice Bookkeeper

Time Appointments are recruiting on behalf of a trusted Accountancy Firm based in Colchester, who are currently recruiting for an experienced Bookkeeper. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is seeking a fantastic working environment and a company that truly values their employees.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: Managing a portfolio of small business clients for all bookkeeping and accounting services Reviewing and preparing accounts to trial balance Prepayments and accruals Preparing and submitting VAT returns Bank reconciliation, purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control Management accounts preparation Fixed asset register maintenance Dealing with and resolving queries Bookkeeping quality control

Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience working in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within an accountancy practice Experience managing a portfolio of clients and working across multiple businesses Strong technical bookkeeping knowledge, with the ability to work confidently through to trial balance Practical experience preparing and submitting VAT returns Experience preparing management accounts Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to financial data Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, with experience using accounting/bookkeeping software A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team A commitment to maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and high professional standards An AAT qualification or equivalent accounting/bookkeeping qualification would be advantageous, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.
