Live-out Handyman / Driver
Tiger Private is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a private family in Totteridge for a hands-on, reliable Handyman / Driver to join their estate team. You will support the Estate Manager, House Manager and the full-time Groundskeeper in keeping a beautiful home, its grounds and its vehicles running to a high standard. This is a varied role for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being busy and brings a genuine can-do attitude. No two days will be the same.
The successful candidate will take care of general DIY and property maintenance, including minor repairs and basic electrics and plumbing, as well as small jobs around the house and garden as they arise. Day to day this may mean sanding down and oiling garden furniture, mending fences, clearing gutters and setting up fireplaces. Outdoors, you will help look after 2-5 acres of garden surrounding a lovely heritage home, including mowing, hedging and trimming lawns and keeping outside areas neat and tidy. You will also maintain the garden machinery and lend a hand when needed with the stables area, tennis court and jumping arena.
The role also covers the household's vehicles, including valeting and taking the cars for servicing. You will drive as and when needed, including some school runs, so a safe, calm and child-friendly manner is essential. Finally, you will help care for the family's dogs and assist with shopping and provisioning.
The family has a preference for someone with an ex-military background, and ss this is a live-out position, candidates must also live within a commutable distance of Totteridge.
You will have a proven track record in a similar handyman, groundskeeping or estate role, with practical skills across general maintenance, basic electrics and plumbing, and confidence operating and maintaining garden machinery. You will hold a full, clean UK driving licence and be comfortable and experienced around both children and dogs. Discretion, trustworthiness and a professional, presentable manner are vital in a private family home, as is a proactive, flexible attitude and a willingness to muck in wherever needed.
Experience around stables, horses, tennis courts or arena surfaces would be an advantage, as would vehicle valeting and basic servicing experience, ideally with higher-value cars. Relevant tickets or certificates, such as machinery, chainsaw, first aid or health and safety, are also desirable.
This is a Monday to Friday position, working 40-45 hours per week with some flexibility. This is a newly created role offering a stable, long-term position within a private family environment.
