Sometimes the biggest conversations don't involve words.

Thrive Education is looking for a warm, patient and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to support a child in Reception who is non-verbal, working within a welcoming primary school setting in the Cotswolds.

This is a mornings only opportunity, making it ideal for someone looking for a part-time school role while still wanting to make a genuine difference to a young child's day.

The right person will understand that communication isn't always about talking. It can be through gestures, facial expressions, behaviour, visuals, routines and those small signals that you gradually learn to recognise once you've built a relationship.

What will you be doing? You'll provide dedicated support to a Reception-aged child, helping them feel settled, included and ready to learn.

Your mornings could include: Providing individual support throughout the morning Helping the child access Reception activities and learning Supporting communication and interaction in a way that works for the child Encouraging independence and confidence Helping with transitions between activities and routines Building a trusting and consistent relationship Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team Observing and responding to the child's individual communication cues Creating a calm, positive and inclusive environment

We're not necessarily looking for someone with every qualification under the sun.

Experience working with non-verbal children, ASD, SEND or communication and interaction needs would be highly beneficial, but it's not simply about what's written on your CV.

We're looking for someone who is: Patient . You understand that progress doesn't always happen on a timetable. Observant . You notice the little things and learn how a child communicates. Nurturing . You're able to provide reassurance without taking over. Consistent . You understand how important familiar faces and predictable routines can be for young children. Creative . You're willing to find different ways to engage and communicate. Calm . You can adapt when a morning doesn't quite go according to plan. Most importantly, you'll genuinely enjoy working with young children and want to help one particular child feel safe, understood and included in their school environment.
