HLTA
Two Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) Wanted – Make Every Day Matter! Location : Forest of Dean Hours : Full-time Start date: To be confirmed
Not every achievement comes with a certificate. Sometimes, it’s a breakthrough, a moment of independence, or a child realising they can do something they never thought possible.
We’re looking for two passionate, proactive and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join a specialist school in the Forest of Dean, supporting children and young people with additional needs.
This is an opportunity for people who understand that education isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. Every pupil has their own strengths, challenges and way of seeing the world, and the right adult can make a huge difference to how they learn, communicate and grow.
What will your role involve? As an HLTA, you'll be an important part of the school's wider team, helping to create a learning environment where pupils feel safe, understood and encouraged to reach their potential.
Your day might include: Leading learning activities and delivering lessons when required. Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, adapting approaches to suit individual learning styles. Working alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver engaging, meaningful learning experiences. Helping pupils develop their communication, confidence, independence and social skills. Providing consistency, encouragement and positive support when pupils need it most. Building trusting relationships with pupils, celebrating progress and recognising that success looks different for everyone.
Who are we looking for? We're keen to hear from HLTAs who bring both the right experience and the right attitude. You might be someone who can confidently lead a classroom activity, think on your feet when plans change, and recognise when a pupil needs a different approach rather than simply being asked to try harder.
You'll ideally have: HLTA status or equivalent relevant experience and qualifications. Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist setting. Confidence leading learning and supporting teachers to deliver an engaging curriculum. A calm, patient and resilient approach, with the ability to adapt to changing needs. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A genuine commitment to helping every pupil feel valued and achieve their potential.
Why work through Thrive Education? At Thrive Education, we know that great support staff do far more than help a classroom run smoothly. They help pupils feel understood, build confidence and make progress in ways that matter.
When you work with us, you'll benefit from: A friendly, supportive team that understands the education sector. A dedicated consultant who takes the time to understand your experience and what you're looking for. Opportunities to work in settings where your skills can make a genuine difference. Ongoing support throughout your placement.
