About the company
Urban Design & Ceramics has expanded into Egypt and growing our team on the ground. We are looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial Civil Engineer who can operate independently, take ownership, and grow with our business.
The Opportunity This hire will initially support our growing Egypt operations, with the potential to contribute to Urban Design & Ceramics’ broader global operations depending on experience, aptitude, and performance.
Your tasks
This is not a desk-only engineering role. We need someone comfortable moving between estimating, site supervision, workforce development, project coordination, and relationship management.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare job estimates, quantity take-offs, costing, and project tracking
- Supervise and coordinate tile setters and other trades as required
- Monitor workmanship, productivity, schedules, deficiencies, and site requirements
- Build strong working relationships with general contractors, developers, consultants, and site personnel
- Follow up on prospective and active projects and support business development opportunities
- Source, assess, and coordinate qualified installers and trade personnel
- Support the training and development of trade talent using our existing resources, methodologies, and local partnerships
- Maintain accurate spreadsheets, project data, workforce information, estimates, and reporting
- Learn and implement new installation methodologies, systems, tools, and international best practices
- Travel occasionally within Egypt based on project requirements

What We’re Looking For
- 5 to 10 years of relevant civil engineering or construction experience
- Strong construction and site management knowledge
- Experience with estimating, quantity take-offs, costing, and subcontractor/trade supervision
- Highly independent, resourceful, organized, and detail-oriented
- Strong commercial awareness and an entrepreneurial mindset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, growing business where everyone is expected to take ownership
- Strong proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets, data tracking, and digital project tools
- Fluent professional communication in Arabic and English
- Based in Cairo, with flexibility to travel when projects require it
- Strong interest in continuous learning and developing both themselves and the people around them
