Introduction
I am delighted to be exclusively retained again by this long-standing client of mine who are currently going through some exciting changes and growth. My client is an incredibly successful manufacturing brand who focus on quality of staff, quality of product and quality of service, working from their state-of-the-art facility in Wolverhampton.
Due to customer demands and more growth to come, they now need a dedicated Relationship Manager to look after a very solid client base.
Key requirements in brief
- An exceptional Relationship Management / Account Management
- Solid administrative skills with high attention to detail and process driven as lots of quotes and tender production required, along with other administrative duties.
- Commercially astute
- Working knowledge of procurement and supply chain would be an advantage but not essential.
- Manufacturing environment essential – if you come from within electronics or have working knowledge of components then you will be a preferred candidate.
The role of Account Manager
- Responsible for managing a portfolio of existing customers, being the main point of contact and developing strong commercial ongoing relationships.
- Coordinating the preparation and submission of commercial tenders and quotations.
- Reporting directly to the MD, a really nice approachable, engaging, motivational person, the role will act as the key link between the customer and the internal business functions.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality and other relevant departments to ensure that customer requirements, delivery schedules, pricing, quality standards and service expectations are achieved.
- Review and communicate customer technical, quality, commercial and delivery requirements across the business.
- Co-ordinate cross-functional activities to ensure customer requirements are effectively delivered.
- Work with Production and Planning to align capacity, lead times and delivery commitments.
- Liaise with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure material availability, cost control and supply continuity.
- Monitor customer orders through to delivery, proactively managing changes, delays and issues.
- Monitor sales, pricing and margins, identifying risks and supporting profitable decision-making.
- Support account growth, business opportunities and the development of a strong sales pipeline.
- Provide regular customer updates and report key account activity, opportunities and risks to management.
Skills, knowledge & experience
The person we are looking for must be someone who shares company values and our commitment to our customers:
- Experience of managing customer accounts within a manufacturing environment.
- Preferably a working knowledge of the electronics and/or contract manufacturing industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to connect and nurture strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Sound commercial awareness
- Confident to handle multiple tasks and remain composed during challenging situations.
- Experience of using MRP systems; strong ability to plan, manage complex customer orders, and sense check commercial data with meticulous attention to detail.
Customers will expect you to understand the technical aspects of our business, so we anticipate the successful candidate will come from the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) sector or a closely related industry.
