Specialist Support Teaching Assistant for young adults

Specialist Support Teaching Assistant – SEN College About the Role We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN college for an experienced Specialist Support Teaching Assistant to support young adults with additional learning needs. This role would be every week Monday - Thursday. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to develop their independence, confidence and life skills within a specialist educational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to students, both in the classroom and throughout their college day. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small-group support to young adults with SEN and additional needs. Support students with their learning, communication, social development and independence. Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs. Provide support with personal care , including toileting, dressing and other personal hygiene needs where required. Encourage students to develop independence and essential life skills. Support students with behavioural, emotional and communication needs. Follow individual support plans and contribute to students’ progress and development. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals. Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. Support students during educational activities, trips and other college activities where required. About You We are looking for candidates who have: At least 2 years' experience working with children or young adults with SEN. Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or similar role. Experience supporting individuals with complex or additional needs. A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential. The ability and willingness to provide personal care when required. A patient, caring and professional approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. The ability to remain calm and supportive when dealing with challenging situations. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. Previous experience within a specialist SEN college, school, residential setting or care environment would be highly desirable.
