The Supreme HR AdvisorySingaporemycareersfuturepublished 10/28/2026

Your tasks

1. Support design and prototype development

  • Work with designers from the early design stage to identify purchasing requirements, sourcing risks and long lead-time components.
  • Review BOMs with engineers and track items awaiting specifications, drawing release, quotation or purchase approval.
  • Coordinate purchasing priorities with module owners and assembly teams so that parts arrive in the sequence needed for each build.
  • Respond promptly to design changes and manage their impact on open orders, delivery dates and costs.

2. Resolve difficult sourcing situations

  • Proactively source mechanical, electrical, motion control, pneumatic, vacuum and other equipment components, together with custom fabricated parts.
  • Identify alternatives when specified parts have excessive lead times, become obsolete, are unavailable or cannot meet project requirements.
  • Present engineers with practical options, including available stock, alternative brands or models, local fabrication and expedited delivery.
  • Obtain engineering approval for all technical substitutions before committing purchases.
  • Develop a reliable supplier network for low-volume orders, urgent requirements and prototype fabrication.

3. Own supplier follow-up and delivery

  • Obtain quotations, clarify specifications, negotiate commercial terms and issue purchase orders promptly within company procedures.
  • Secure supplier order acknowledgements and confirmed delivery dates; distinguish committed dates from indicative lead times.
  • Follow up actively on outstanding orders and verify progress on critical items.
  • Arrange partial deliveries, priority production or alternative shipping where these can help the build schedule.
  • Escalate risks early with clear options, recommended action and the decision required.

4. Maintain purchasing visibility and control

  • Maintain an accurate tracker covering part number and revision, supplier, PO status, promised delivery, outstanding quantity and current risk.
  • Provide a concise critical-parts update showing what could delay each module and the action being taken.
  • Ensure suppliers receive the correct drawings and revisions; manage order amendments, cancellations and obsolete stock exposure following design changes.
  • Coordinate with receiving, quality and engineering teams to resolve incorrect, damaged or nonconforming deliveries.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in engineering, supply chain, procurement or a related discipline; relevant practical experience will also be considered.
  • Preferably 3–7 years of purchasing or technical sourcing experience in semiconductor equipment, automation, precision machinery or a similar engineering environment.
  • Experience supporting R&D, new product introduction or first prototype builds is strongly preferred.
  • Able to work with engineering BOMs, part specifications and drawing revisions, and clarify technical requirements with designers.
  • Familiarity with precision machined parts and standard equipment components such as motors, drives, bearings, linear guides, ball screws, sensors and pneumatic components.
  • Managing multiple changing priorities using Excel and purchasing/ERP systems.
