Assistant Engineer (Engineering Lab / Equipment & Software Support)
This is a 1-year contract role, renewal or conversion is subject to headcount availability.
Salary: $3,000
Location: Central (Relocating to Paya Lebar / Tai Seng area around Q2 2027)
5 days work week
Weekday Shifts: 8.30am – 5.30pm / 1pm – 10pm
Saturday Duty: Once a month - 8.30am – 5.30pm without class/lab, 9am – 6pm with class/lab
Laboratory Support
- Prepare laboratory equipment, apparatus, hardware and software for classes.
- Support lecturers during laboratory sessions/workshops and conduct lab familiarisation for new lecturers.
- Housekeep the laboratory after each session.
- Provide technical and software support to students for their projects.
Equipment & Software Maintenance
- Ensure required software is installed and functioning before classes.
- Perform servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs of laboratory equipment.
- Assist with software licences, installation, updates, setup and maintenance of lab computers and software.
- Liaise with vendors on issue logs and status updates.
Inventory & Procurement
- Maintain laboratory inventory, records and reports, including feedback, issue tracking and follow-up actions.
- Obtain quotations and discuss requirements with the Reporting Officer.
Workplace Safety & Health
- Conduct WSH and Risk Assessment talks for students and assist with risk assessments for engineering laboratories.
- Ensure lab safety and compliance with lab rules and regulations; serve as Occupational First Aider.
- Monitor FYP and workshop activities and gather suggestions for improvement.
General
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Reporting Officer.
Requirements
- Diploma in Engineering, preferably IT, Mechatronics or Robotics, with at least 1 year of experience.
- Familiar with laboratory equipment and software, with the ability to perform troubleshooting when required.
- Good understanding of laboratory objectives, applied principles and safety requirements.
- Willing to work rotational shifts.
