Senior Buyer – Sub Contractors

Working on some of the largest Energy and Power projects in Scotland for the next 10 years. This is a fantastic opportunity to transfer from another Tier 1 contractor into the Energy sector.

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 basic + Car + Bonus Location: Glasgow Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. Role Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to manage the end-to-end subcontract procurement process, taking initial stakeholder requirements through to contract award. Sitting within the largest frameworks in Scotland, delivering £3 billion of projects in the next 5 years, you will be part of the procurement team driving strategic supply chain initiatives. You will work closely with project teams to develop procurement strategies that deliver a strong subcontractor supply chain. Key duties include:

• Managing procurement activities, including EOI, PQQ, ITT, contractor scoring and contract awards.
• Owning subcontractor supply chain segmentation and managing the database to build robust subcontract packages.
• Regularly reviewing and refreshing the subcontractor supply chain to ensure aligned performance.
• Leading supply chain bid inputs, tender lists and post-award subcontractor assessments.
• Identifying supply chain innovations to differentiate and continuously improve project delivery.

This role is perfect for someone in the Civil Engineering sector, perhaps working for a Tier 1 contractor in a sector that has not had the spending power of the Energy sector. Relevant sector experience could include:

• Rail
• Highways
• Water
• Environmental, coastal or flood defence.

Experience / Qualifications

• Commitment to, or actively studying toward, CIPS or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Proven experience as a Senior Buyer within the infrastructure sector.
• Solid understanding of subcontract terms, bid management and contract negotiation.
