Job description:
*Job Summary*
We are seeking a reliable and organized *Truck Dispatcher* to coordinate loads, communicate with drivers, and ensure efficient operations. The ideal candidate has experience in freight dispatching, strong negotiation skills, and knowledge of industry regulations.
*Key Responsibilities*
- Source and book loads using load boards and broker relationships
- Negotiate freight rates to maximize profitability
- Dispatch drivers and provide clear load instructions
- Monitor drivers? Hours of Service (HOS) compliance
- Track shipments and provide status updates to brokers/customers
- Minimize deadhead miles and optimize routes
- Handle detention, layovers, TONU, and accessorials
- Maintain accurate records and submit paperwork for billing
- Ensure compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations
*Qualifications*
- Previous dispatching experience preferred (1+ years)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Understanding of HOS regulations
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in dispatch software and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
*Preferred Skills*
- Experience working with owner-operators
- Knowledge of freight lanes and market rates
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Customer service experience
