Interim Senior Accountant

Reporting to the Group Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering specialist financial support and advice to Children, Families and Education, and Adult Social Care and Public Health directorates
- Driving the annual DSG budget-setting process and school funding arrangements
- Monitoring and reporting funding performance, identifying financial risks and opportunities
- Providing high-quality financial analysis, reporting and advice
- Guiding and supporting services and schools to achieve financially sustainable outcomes
- Developing financial models and costing options to support strategic decision-making
- Evaluating efficiencies, savings opportunities and investment proposals
- Building strong relationships and working collaboratively with stakeholders, providers and external partners
- Supporting statutory returns, compliance with grant conditions and high-profile projects
What you will need:
- CIMA or CCAB qualification (ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW or CIPFA) with evidence of professional updating
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Senior Accountant, Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant, or Local Government Accountant
- Strong spreadsheet skills and proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel and financial information systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Business Intelligence)
- Demonstrable experience of building productive relationships and influencing a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial and operational information and present findings clearly
