People Operations Manager - 6 month FTC

£55,500 Six-month fixed-term contract | Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Hybrid working – minimum two days in the office

Are you an experienced HR generalist who enjoys supporting managers, solving problems and making HR processes work better? We are recruiting a People Operations Manager for an independent charity with a strong social purpose. This six-month opportunity offers the chance to make a tangible contribution within an established People team, combining practical HR advice with policy and process improvement. The role Reporting to the Deputy Director People, you will work closely with People Business Partners and colleagues across the organisation to keep day-to-day HR operations running smoothly and deliver improvements. Your responsibilities will include: Reviewing and updating HR policies, guidance and process maps, embedding inclusive practice and ensuring compliance with employment law. Providing advice on employee relations, performance, sickness management and flexible working. Coaching managers to build their confidence and capability in managing people. Improving HR processes and data management, identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical solutions. Helping design and deliver HR training workshops. Supporting People projects and initiatives across the organisation. There may also be responsibility for managing a People Officer or People Team Assistant. About you You will bring strong generalist HR experience, sound employee relations knowledge and the confidence to provide clear, practical advice to managers. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate: Experience improving HR operations, policies and processes. A strong understanding of employment law and its practical application. Experience delivering HR training or coaching managers. Confidence using HR systems and analysing data to inform improvements. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
