As an External Affairs Officer at Hyde, you will support Hyde’s engagement with local and national government, MPs, councils, regulators, trade bodies and other external partners, helping our voice to be heard on the issues that matter to our customers and communities.

You will monitor political, policy and regulatory developments that could affect Hyde or our customers. You will turn complex information into clear briefings and recommendations, helping senior leaders make informed decisions and ensuring Hyde is well represented across the housing sector.

Key Duties

  • Monitor political, policy, legal and regulatory developments, producing clear briefings and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with government, MPs, councils, regulators, trade bodies and other external partners.
  • Coordinate Hyde’s responses to consultations and policy changes, working with internal teams to establish clear organisational positions.
  • Support Hyde’s presence at political and housing-sector events, including conferences, stakeholder meetings, site visits and speaking opportunities.
  • Produce engaging content for internal and external audiences, including presentations, briefings, commentary and campaign materials.

Why Join Hyde?

Hyde is part of the Hyde group, one of the UK’s leading housing providers, managing and owning around 120,000 homes nationwide. You will work closely with senior leaders, communications colleagues and teams across the organisation, helping Hyde respond to political and policy developments and maintain a strong voice within the housing sector.

As an External Affairs Officer, we’re seeking someone who can bring:

  • Experience in public affairs, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, government relations or strategic communications.
  • A strong understanding of political systems, policy development and the regulatory environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing content for different audiences.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex information into practical recommendations.
  • A collaborative and organised approach, with experience building external relationships and working confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of housing, public services or another regulated sector would be helpful, but it is not essential.

  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Life assurance
  • Award-winning flexible benefits platform
  • Support for learning and career development
  • Hybrid working options available
