Part-time Accounting Manager /Accountant with Thai accounting exp with a MNC
- Part-time accounting role covering Thailand books (requiring 50% of the time in a week i.e. around 2 to 3 workdays per week)
- Experience handling a full set of Thailand accounts is required
- Has good working knowledge of Thailand accounting standards, VAT, withholding tax and statutory requirements
Our client is a renowned European listed MNC in the luxury retail sector. Regarding its location, it is based in a building 2 bus stops from the Tiong Bahru MRT station.
For this role, you report to the Finance Director, Southeast Asia (based in Singapore). Given the current low transaction volume in Thailand, a part-time accounting role (requiring around 2 to 3 workdays per week) or a flexible arrangement is workable. Hands-on knowledge of Thailand accounting, tax, and statutory requirements, and prior experience supporting accounting for a Thailand entity is required . The scope and working arrangement may be reviewed as the business grows.
DUTIES
- Handle the full set of accounts for the Thailand entity independently
- Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable records
- Prepare and post accounting entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances
- Prepare monthly closing and financial reports accurately and on time
- Prepare VAT, withholding tax and other statutory tax filings in accordance with Thailand requirements, including submissions through relevant Thai government portals/systems
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisers, banks and relevant authorities
- Support annual audit and corporate income tax filing
- Assist with cash planning, working capital monitoring and ad-hoc finance reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting information required by the SEA Finance Director and HQ
- Ensure compliance with finance policies, internal controls and local statutory requirements
- Maintain proper accounting records and documentation for audit purposes
- Process or coordinate statutory and government payments and ensure submissions and payments are completed by the required deadlines
- Support the Finance Director, Southeast Asia with Thailand financial reporting and analysis as required
- Liaise with auditors and external service providers to ensure timely completion of statutory requirements
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of finance processes and internal controls
Requirements:
- H as a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- CPA or other professional accounting qualification is an advantage but not mandatory
- Approximately 3–7+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with experience handling a full set of accounts independently
- Has hands-on Thailand accounting experience, including working on the accounts of a Thai entity. Has good working knowledge of Thailand accounting standards, VAT, withholding tax and statutory requirements
- Hands-on experience with month-end closing, bank reconciliation, AP, AR and general ledger
- Experience liaising with auditors and tax advisers
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; SAP, Cognos and/or ABAS experience is an advantage
- Good attention to detail, accuracy and ability to work independently
- Able to communicate in English for regional and HQ reporting
- Hands-on familiarity with Thai government portals/systems for tax, statutory submissions and related payments
- Ability to read and write Thai is preferred, as the role will handle Thai-language documents and government systems (but this is not a must)
- Work in the office 100% of the time during the agreed workdays in the week (the office is located at Henderson/ Bukit Merah area). Also open to working longer hours when required during month-end close (month end close takes around 6 days in a week).
