Neurodivergence Specialist
1. Job Role
We are looking for an individual passionate about strengthening career development support for neurodivergent youths (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.) to join our team as a Neurodivergence Specialist !
As a career development charity for youths, we at TAC believe that every youth should get the opportunity to build meaningful careers and have better well-being at work and through work. One of the organisation’s key levers of support is mentoring.
As we deepen our mentoring work with neurodivergent youths, this role will help build our internal capability to serve these groups of youths better, acting as a specialist resource within the team. This role blends direct case handling, indirect support for others in the team, and capability-building for our broader community of volunteers and partners .
As this is the first time we are bringing a Neurodivergence Specialist into the staff team, the role will begin as a 1-year contract , with the opportunity for conversion to a permanent contract at the end of the year should there be mutual interest. Fractional/part-time arrangements (e.g. 3-day work week) can also be considered.
Key areas of responsibilities:
Case Support & Case Handling
- Supporting Staff: Supporting mentoring managers in cases involving neurodivergent mentees and guiding staff on appropriate neurodivergence-informed interventions in areas such as applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, and doing and feeling well at work.
- Direct Case Handling: Handling selected complex cases directly and working with neurodivergent youths on their career development needs.
Training & Development
- Training: Preparing and delivering training for staff, volunteer mentors and youth mentees on areas such as understanding neurodivergence and building executive functioning skills.
- Resource Development: Developing practical materials such as guides, notes and handbooks to help volunteer mentors better support neurodivergent mentees.
- Employer Support: In selected cases, supporting employers and supervisors to better understand neurodivergent presentations and needs.
Programme Design & Development
- Supporting the design of career development and support programmes to be more inclusive for neurodivergent participants.
- Experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) would be ideal.
2. Job Benefits
- Salary: $5,500 to $7,000 gross monthly salary, dependent on the extent of relevant skills and years of relevant experience.
- Bonuses: 13th-month bonus assured. Further bonuses (~up to 1 month) will depend on the organisation’s financial health in the past year and your performance.
- Annual Leave: 18 days per year.
- Other Leave: In addition to leave benefits mandated in the Employment Act, you will also be entitled to leave for marriage, parent care, compassionate circumstances, birthday and training.
- Health Insurance: Corporate outpatient and inpatient insurance coverage with the organisation’s appointed corporate insurer, Singlife. Full regular outpatient coverage when visiting the panel of approved GP clinics, and annual health screening coverage.
3. Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years working directly with youths or young adults with neurodivergent presentations, e.g. as an SEN teacher, Allied Educator, SEN support staff, or in a disability/SEN-focused social service role.Direct experience in coaching executive functioning is preferred.Understanding of Singapore's SEN and SPED school landscape or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) landscape and pathways is a plus.
- Education: Relevant qualifications in Special Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, Social Work, or related fields.Relevant certifications (e.g. NIE Advanced Diploma/Diploma in Special Education, or equivalent) are a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Able to translate specialist neurodivergence/clinical knowledge into practical, actionable guidance for non-specialist mentors and staff.Familiarity with Case Management and Programme Management approaches preferred.Strong facilitation and training skills, and confidence engaging external stakeholders such as employers.
