What to Expect Optimus geartrain manufacturing team is seeking a skilled and highly motivated, equipment control engineer with high precision equipment build experience within gearbox, electric motor or other industries focusing on rotating machinery design and manufacturing. We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, Automation, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop volume manufacturable designs and processes that will produce gearboxes. The role of the equipment control engineer is to support establishing to world-class production line for gearboxes and drive scalable design and production methods used to make "the machines that make the machines".

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has excellent engineering and physics fundamentals with hands on experience, is excited about manufacturing equipment and process development, does not shy away from a challenge, highly organized, has great attention to detail, and is able to work in fast paced development environment. with analytical and practical engineering focus.

What You'll Do Participate in initial equipment conceptual development, carefully balancing product specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality, and lead-time limits

Architect, write, and debug PLC logic, emphasizing code organization, structure, documentation, maintainability, and reusability

Architect, write, and debug programs for subsystems such as robots, vision systems, test equipment, and manufacturing execution systems

Participate in Tesla specification and standard creation, release to vendors, and quote technical evaluation
