Data Product Manager
6-Month Contract | £700 per day Outside IR35| Hybrid (3 Days Onsite, London)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Product Manager to join a growing Data & Insights function and play a key role in delivering a portfolio of strategic data initiatives.
The organisation has already established its data strategy, target operating model and delivery roadmap. What is now required is an experienced data leader who can work closely with existing subject matter experts to ensure successful execution of key programmes over the next 6-12 months.
This is a delivery-focused role, requiring an individual who can coordinate stakeholders, drive progress, remove blockers and ensure projects are delivered successfully. Whilst the role does not require deep hands-on technical expertise, candidates must possess a strong understanding of data architecture, data modelling, data governance and analytics environments in order to effectively challenge, influence and guide delivery.
A strong insurance background is essential, with previous experience operating within the London Market and ideally the Lloyd's of London insurance market .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple data initiatives across business, operations and technology functions.
- Work closely with Data Architecture, Data Governance and Analytics leadership to execute an established data roadmap.
- Coordinate complex workstreams and ensure priorities are delivered against agreed timelines and business objectives.
- Drive business engagement and stakeholder alignment across data-related projects.
- Support the implementation and operationalisation of data governance frameworks, data ownership models and data quality initiatives.
- Work alongside technical teams to ensure data products and platforms are aligned to business requirements and long-term objectives.
- Identify risks, dependencies and delivery challenges, proactively driving resolution.
- Challenge existing approaches and provide recommendations to improve outcomes where appropriate.
- Ensure data initiatives support future business growth, improved decision-making and increased operational efficiency.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, helping the organisation stay ahead of industry trends and maximise the value of its data assets.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Product Manager , Data Delivery Lead, Data Programme Manager or similar data-focused leadership role.
- Extensive insurance sector experience is essential.
- Strong knowledge of insurance data, processes and terminology across underwriting, claims, broking and wider insurance operations.
- Experience working within the Lloyd's of London market is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks , data ownership, stewardship and data quality management.
- Good knowledge of data architecture principles, data modelling concepts and enterprise data structures .
- Experience delivering data transformation, governance, reporting or operating model initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams and delivering against challenging timelines.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery and execution.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working in organisations transitioning from legacy data environments to modern cloud platforms.
- Exposure to both Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
- Experience supporting data modernisation, cloud migration or enterprise data transformation programmes.
- Understanding of analytics, MI, reporting and data product delivery.
- Knowledge of emerging trends within data, analytics and AI.
