The Role As an Engineering Manager at Tendium you will work with your team and contribute to the whole tech org. You'll be responsible for the engineers you lead: their growth, their wellbeing, and their ability to ship reliably. You will of course work closely with the team’s Product Manager to figure out a clear direction for the team. You will also be an active part of our Engineering Management team alongside other EMs, Staff Engineers, our Architect and the VP of Engineering . What you'll do Build a team culture where people speak up, disagree without fear, and own their mistakes in a no-blame environment.

Coach your engineers with regular 1:1s, clear development plans, and honest feedback that helps them grow and succeed.

Own hiring end to end, from job ad to onboarding to performance discussions.

Protect the team's focus by working with your PM on priorities, making sure the team understands the "why" and having constructive conversations about trade-offs.

Make sure the team lands on sound technical decisions through discussions and bringing in staff engineers or our architect when needed, while giving engineers room to own those calls and grow.

Introduce and sustain shared practices (security, dependencies, ways of working) so they actually stick.

Improve things beyond your own team by driving cross-team initiatives together with the rest of engineering management and sharing what works.

Work hands-on in the team, contributing to the team’s tech and success.

Who you are Experienced in leading engineering teams, with a solid technical background that earns engineers' respect. A strong track record of technical leadership as a Tech Lead or in a similar role.

A seasoned people manager with a proven track record of supporting direct reports in their growth and development. You have extensive experience in people management, including performance conversations, salary reviews, recruitment, and building high-performing teams.

Comfortable making unpopular decisions when needed. You’re used to having tough conversations and making trade-offs between tech quality and delivering with speed.

A clear communicator with both engineers and explaining technical solutions at the right level to non-technical stakeholders.

Grounded in agile practices and skilled at facilitating retros and workshops that lead to real results.

Calm in ambiguity; you move things toward clarity rather than waiting for it.

Curious about your own growth, and you ask for feedback and act on it.

About The Tech Org Our tech org consists of around 30 developers, PMs and designers divided into four teams sitting closely together on the same floor. We use AI tools and cross-functional collaboration to build new and exciting things with speed. Every other week we have a Show and tell, where we show things we’ve built, celebrate our successes and talk about our failures openly. We share knowledge and learn from each other every day to grow and succeed together.
