Love working with numbers, asking questions, and understanding the bigger picture?

At Tend, we’re reimagining healthcare for New Zealanders. We believe accessing healthcare should be simple, connected, and centred around people. By combining innovative technology with compassionate care, we’re creating healthcare experiences that are easier, smarter, and more human.

We’re looking for an Accounts Administrator to join our team and support the financial operations at Tend Constellation Drive

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy, and is naturally curious about how things work. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just process transactions, but wants to understand the why behind the numbers, investigate discrepancies, and identify opportunities to improve the way we work.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring our accounts are accurate, our claims are processed efficiently, and our financial processes run smoothly across our clinics.

What you’ll be doing

Accounts & financial administration

  • Processing patient invoices and monthly statements, and managing outstanding accounts.
  • Preparing BCTIs for doctor payments and processing monthly specialist rental invoices.
  • Completing bank and other financial reconciliations using our practice management system, Indici.
  • Conducting regular template and invoicing audits to identify discrepancies and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Investigating account variances, resolving discrepancies, and following issues through to completion.
  • Supporting month-end processes and financial reporting in collaboration with the Medical Centre Manager.
  • Monitoring outstanding payments and managing billing enquiries and debt follow-up.

Funding & claims

  • Managing Ministry of Health and ACC claims end to end, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
  • Monitoring funding claims, investigating rejected or outstanding claims, and following up to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Identifying trends, errors, and opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes.

Continuous improvement & team support

  • Taking a proactive approach to understanding our financial processes and the reasons behind the numbers.
  • Asking questions, investigating unusual results, and working with relevant teams to resolve issues.
  • Building relationships with clinic teams to understand how operational processes affect financial performance.
  • Providing administrative support to clinic operations when required.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is organised, analytical, and enjoys getting to the bottom of things. You’ll be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and taking ownership of your work.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in accounts administration, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or a similar financial role. Healthcare experience is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • An inquisitive mindset and a willingness to dig into the accounts, ask questions, investigate discrepancies, and understand the why behind the numbers.
  • Confidence working with financial data, reconciliations, invoices, and outstanding accounts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify issues and follow them through to resolution.
  • Experience with patient billing, ACC claims, Ministry of Health funding, or healthcare administration is advantageous.
  • Confidence using accounting or practice management systems, with Indici experience preferred.
  • Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • A proactive approach to improving processes and finding better ways of working.

Why Tend?

At Tend, we’re building the future of primary healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand. We embrace innovation, challenge traditional ways of working, and genuinely care about our people — both our patients and our teams.

You’ll join a collaborative team where curiosity, initiative, and continuous improvement are valued. This is an opportunity to develop your financial and analytical skills while contributing to the effective financial management of our medical centres.

If you enjoy working with numbers, asking questions, and understanding what’s happening behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.
