English version to follow As a member of the LEO satellite operations team, the LEO Flight Operations Engineer will provide technical support for technical aspects related to in-orbit operations of on-board subsystems on the Lightspeed satellite platform, flight dynamics operations, and the satellite control systems used to operate the Lightspeed constellation. The Flight Operations Engineer contributes to optimizing the health, performance, and commercial availability of satellite subsystems. This includes working in collaboration with others within the satellite operations team and other Lightspeed segments to improve efficiency, through innovation, in all aspects of in-orbit fleet operations.
Responsibilities Supports the integration of SatOps systems and the development of products related to satellite operations; Supports the testing, validation, and verification of SCS systems; Supports the development of products related to satellite operations and their implementation into SCS systems; Supports the Satellite Operations Centre (SOC) concept of operations and the development of administrative systems; In collaboration with the space segment team, supports the evolution of the concept of operations (CONOPS) for satellite operations for the LEOP and routine operations phases; Participates in the testing, validation, and verification of SatOps products, SCS system deliveries, and training; Supports the update of satellite operating procedures; Supports the development of automation for satellite operating procedures; ensures performance tracking; Provides recommendations for the design, analysis, and maintenance of the Satellite Data Platform (SDP); focusing on short and long-term trends of satellite telemetry (TM) data; Ensures that satellite operating processes within the SOC are respected; refines satellite control guidelines outside of SatOps; Provides technical supervision of satellite controllers during all phases of operations; Provides technical assistance and/or training on all matters related to the development and use of satellite operating products as well as analysis and trending tools. The Flight Operations Engineer works on a 24/7 rotating shift schedule.
Education and Experience At least a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent; 0 to 3 years of experience in aerospace technologies and expertise in satellite operations software systems and development; Knowledge of satellite control systems would be an asset; Knowledge of satellite subsystem design and operation; Knowledge of electronics, control systems, and radio frequency communications; Knowledge of satellite orbit dynamics theory; Knowledge of containerized software platforms is an asset; Experience in software development on various platforms and using various programming tools; Strong analytical, problem-solving, real-time decision-making, planning, and organizational skills; Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written; Autonomous and motivated, capable of working effectively both individually and in a team; Experience in C and Python programming as well as databases is an asset.
Decision Making and Supervision Make decisions and formulate recommendations in accordance with general policy. Recommendations are reviewed for technical rigor or judgment exercised, but are generally accepted as technically accurate; Influence decisions regarding the technical development of operational concepts; Manage development projects within the SOC, including collaboration with other operational staff; Provide technical advice to SOC staff; As part of shift work, provide technical advice during operations phases.

Education and Experience Minimum Bachelor degree in an Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering, or the equivalent; 0-3 years experience in Aerospace technologies and expertise in satellite operations software systems and development; Knowledge of satellite control systems would be an asset; Knowledge of satellite subsystem design and operation; Knowledge of electronics, control systems and radio frequency communications; Knowledge of satellite orbit dynamics theory; Knowledge of containerized software platforms is an asset; Experience in developing software with a variety of platforms and programming tools; Strong analytical, problem solving, real-time decision-making, planning and organizational skills; Excellent verbal and written English communications skills; Independent and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment Experience in C and Python programming as well as databases is an asset.
