Telco Cloud Operations Engineer (early career opportunity)

Working in the Telco Cloud team The Telco Cloud platform forms the foundation upon which Telenet's network and 5G services run for millions of customers. As an Operations Engineer in our Telco Cloud team, you help keep that foundation stable, fast, and secure. And you make it easier for other teams to build upon it.

You work in a close-knit team that supports various ‘tribes’ and teams, each with their own needs and schedules. Together, you utilize automation, monitoring, capacity planning, and performance engineering to prevent problems before customers notice them. Along the way, you will contribute to the setup of our 5G core platform and help shape how we deploy AI for our operations.

This is a role designed for growth. From day one, you will be assigned a senior buddy, given time to learn, and provided the space to take on more responsibility as your confidence grows.

Your role as a Telco Cloud Operations Engineer

• Ensure our virtualization and Kubernetes platforms remain in optimal condition through monitoring, automation, and continuous improvements for reliability and scalability.
• Support the expansion of our AIOps capabilities using data from the NSO datalake and monitoring tools. Detect anomalies, correlate alerts, and predict future capacity needs.
• Help application teams implement telco cloud services and act as their trusted technical point of contact.
• Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD-pipelines while ensuring a secure and efficient implementation of standard changes.
• Use AI tools in your daily work to develop scripts, automate tasks, draft documentation, and improve incident analyses.
• Investigate and resolve L2/L3 incidents together with your team, identify underlying causes, and help prevent recurring issues.
• Contribute to platform designs, roadmaps, and best practices. You will also participate in agile meetings and shared on-call shifts.

Your profile as a Telco Cloud Operations Engineer

• You have between 1 and 4 years of practical experience with Linux and virtualization, containers, or Kubernetes, gained through work, internships, or personal projects.
• You have experience with scripting or coding, preferably in Python.
• You are familiar with working with YAML and Git.
• You have basic knowledge of network concepts such as routing, DNS, and load balancing.
• You communicate clearly and effectively in English.
• Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
• You are eager to learn and want to continuously expand your skillset in cloud, automation, and platform engineering.

You are willing to participate in an on-call rotation.
