Company Description Techware Professional Services Ltd is a leading IT company, established in 2017, delivering end-to-end IT services and solutions across Nigeria and West Africa. The organization focuses on enterprise customers in both public and private sectors, with strong presence in Banking, Insurance, Telecom, Health, Retail, and Government. Techware designs and implements technology solutions that help organizations improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability. The company emphasizes innovation, customer-centric delivery, and long-term partnerships to support clients’ digital transformation and infrastructure modernization.

Position Overview

As a Data Center Engineer at Techware, you will serve as a key technical expert delivering high-impact infrastructure solutions and managed services to our enterprise clients. Drawing on your hands-on field experience, you will collaborate with clients to analyze, design, build, and support mission-critical data center environments.

Your primary focus will center on consulting, deploying, and optimizing client infrastructure across three core pillars: Compute systems, Power & Cooling (Facilities), and Enterprise Storage . In addition, you will leverage foundational Network Engineering and Network Security skills to ensure client architectures feature resilient connectivity, robust traffic segmentation, and end-to-end security compliance.

This client-facing role combines technical delivery, architecture design, and advisory support to help our clients achieve resilient, scalable, and modern data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with account managers to assess client requirements, perform site surveys, and assist in designing tailored data center architectures. Develop client deliverables, including rack elevation diagrams, power/cooling topology maps, cabling schematics, and Statement of Work (SOW) technical inputs. Lead or assist with on-site deployments, greenfield builds, hardware refreshes, and data center consolidation or migration projects for clients. Rack, stack, provision, and configure enterprise servers, blade architectures, and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) tailored to client specifications. Deploy, configure, and manage client virtualization environments (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, Nutanix).

Perform server lifecycle management, firmware upgrades, out-of-band management configuration (iDRAC, ILO, Cisco UCS Manager), and performance tuning. Assess and advise clients on power distribution setup (PDU, RPP, UPS systems, ATS switches) and thermal management efficiency (CRAC/CRAH, hot/cold aisle containment). Conduct thermal and electrical capacity assessments to prevent client downtime and optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). Execute physical installations adhering to enterprise cabling standards (fiber optic patching, structured copper cabling, label/tagging schemes). Deploy, configure, and migrate enterprise SAN/NAS storage arrays (Block, File, and Object storage) for client workloads. Implement Fiber Channel (FC) zoning, iSCSI, NFS/SMB configurations, volume mapping, snapshots, and replication for disaster recovery (DR). Assist clients with storage capacity planning, performance troubleshooting, and tiering strategies. Implement basic Layer 2/3 switch and router configurations (VLANs, trunking, port channels, IP routing) to support compute and storage traffic. Support network security best practices, configuring client edge/internal firewall rules, Access Control Lists (ACLs), DMZ segmentation, and VPN access. Assist with network troubleshooting during client onboarding or post-deployment support. Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for managed service clients, diagnosing complex hardware, power, or storage failures. Produce thorough client-facing technical documentation, runbooks, and handover guides post-implementation.
