At the Fakultät Elektrotechnik, Institut für Nachrichtentechnik, at the Deutsche Telekom Professur für Kommunikationsnetze, a project position is to be filled as of 01.01.2027, subject to the availability of funds, as a

Research Associate (m/f/d) Head of the Application Center for Communication for Critical Infrastructure and Autonomous Systems – KIAS (E 13 TV-L if personal requirements are met)

until 31.12.2029 (employment duration according to § 2 (2) WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

  • scientific research and development activities
  • strategic management of the consortium: taking overall responsibility for the implementation of the KIAS project, ensuring the achievement of technical, temporal, and financial goals
  • coordination of the consortium partners: conducting regular consortium and project management meetings, organizing network meetings, milestones, and reporting. Ensuring efficient cooperation between the scientific, industrial, and application-oriented as well as associated partners
  • monitoring technical developments; ensuring the application relevance and market readiness orientation of the solutions
  • implementation of the transfer process of research results into practice; building and maintaining the national transfer ecosystem, involving SMEs and public users (e.g., fire department, police, energy suppliers); ensuring the sustainability and scalability of the developed solutions
  • creation and maintenance of project and risk management, creation of reports for the funding agency (e.g., BMDS), compliance with project planning and budget control
  • public relations and network building: representing the project at national and international conferences, press and media work, building cooperation with other research institutions, industrial partners, and political decision-makers

Requirements:

  • academic university degree in the field of Elektrotechnik, Wirtschaftsinformatik, Informatik, Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen, Betriebswirtschaft
  • demonstrable at least 3 years of professional experience
  • strong communicative and technical competencies, pronounced team and leadership skills as well as experience in working with industry, authorities, and users
  • high level of initiative, structured way of working, and pronounced problem-solving competence
  • good English skills (at least C1) for international cooperation and reporting
