Senior Project Engineer

In this role, you are the technical person ultimately responsible for assigned projects and you support the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of the engineering scope.

Your main responsibilities include:

• You analyze technical information from internal and external stakeholders and translate this into an efficient and feasible technical solution within the project boundaries.
• You detect missing data, technical risks, interface issues, and define mitigating actions to ensure smooth project execution.
• You coordinate technical requirements, specifications, engineering scope, and technical change management throughout the entire project lifecycle.
• You prepare the necessary technical documentation, including calculations, layouts, reports, and advice, and validate these for customer approvals.
• You perform and coordinate CAD design reviews, interface checks, collision checks, and layout approvals to guarantee technical feasibility and quality.
• You review and validate designs, strength and stability calculations, and drawings from subcontractors and less experienced engineers, and support the application of engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
• You direct assigned engineering team members and external engineering partners, provide clear instructions, and monitor progress.
• You represent engineering towards customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments for all technical discussions and decisions.
• You monitor machine safety compliance by coordinating safety layouts, safety concepts, safety matrices, and technical safety validations during design and execution phases.
• You support project planning, milestone tracking, budgeting, variation orders, and technical risk assessments.
• You lead technical meetings, participate in site inspections, and are present on-site when necessary.
• You assist in supplier selection, technical evaluation of quotes, and monitor technical aspects during procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• You guide internal and external stakeholders during engineering, installation, and commissioning to ensure the approved technical solution is correctly implemented.
• You coach junior and medior engineers, stimulate knowledge sharing within the engineering team, and act as a technical mentor.
• You represent the company as a technical ambassador to all involved parties.

For this Senior Project Engineer role, your profile matches well when:

• You have a Master's degree in Engineering (for example, electromechanics, industrial design) or equivalent experience, combined with at least 7 years of relevant experience in project engineering or technical project execution.
• You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch, French, and/or German is an additional plus.
• You possess strong technical leadership skills and communicate clearly with various stakeholders.
• You take initiative, handle stress well, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
• You have experience with stability and strength calculations and an affinity for materials and industrial installations.
• You work fluently with MS Office, particularly Excel.
• You are familiar with CAD design reviews, multidisciplinary engineering coordination, and machine safety, or can pick this up quickly; experience with this is a clear asset.
• You have previously coordinated engineering teams and multidisciplinary projects; this is seen as strong added value.
• You are willing to travel internationally when the project requires it.
