In this role, you will get to use your entire production management repertoire.

As our business grows, we are strengthening our organization. We are looking for a Production Director who is equally comfortable in the daily life of production as they are at the management team table. You want to understand what is happening in production, but you are also able to look further ahead and build a common direction for the entire production operation.

Earthpac is an industrial packaging company founded in 1995. The business model is entrepreneurial: decision-making is straightforward, there is little bureaucracy, and sensible things can be moved forward quickly.

Your tasks

Six production units. Diverse production environments. Daily management, people, efficiency, standardization, investments, and strategy.

If you have had to choose between operational work and strategic development so far, in this role you do not have to.

Your Task As Production Director, you are responsible for developing production performance in the short, medium, and long term. Your responsibility extends from daily management and continuous improvement to capacity utilization, investments, and the development of the production structure.

In your role

• you lead the entirety of the six production units and the development of their operational efficiency
• you clarify goals and metrics, as well as practical measures to ensure results
• you develop material and personnel efficiency
• you unify operating methods and integrate standardization into the work
• you support and challenge production managers and production supervisors, and strengthen cooperation between units
• you participate in management team and strategic work from a production perspective.

Requirements

What kind of leader succeeds in this role? For you, continuous improvement is not a method or a single development project, but a way to lead production and involve people in development.

You go close to the work, you ask, and you observe. When something is decided to be changed, you carry the matter through to implementation and ensure that the new way of operating also stays alive.

You will succeed in the task if

• you are curious and want to understand why things are done the way they are done
• you lead change with clear goals and carry agreed matters to completion persistently
• you understand different production environments, from automation and robotics to more manual work
• you know how to prioritize and challenge constructively even when there is too much to do
• you act independently even in an environment where not everything is pre-documented and support functions are not unlimited
• you are able to work in a multicultural environment and use at least English in your work.

The most important thing is not a specific certificate, but the ability to combine an understanding of production, leading people, and purposeful development.
