About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently looking for reliable and experienced Ad Hoc SEN Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Newham and Tower Hamlets.

This is an ideal opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work, whether you are available for occasional days, short-term assignments or additional work alongside existing commitments.

Assignments may involve 1:1 support, small-group interventions or general classroom support depending on the individual school's requirements.

The successful Ad Hoc SEN Teaching Assistant will be confident entering different school environments, quickly building relationships with pupils and providing consistent support at short notice.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils to access classroom learning.
• Assist teachers with lessons and activities.
• Support pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs.
• Implement individual support strategies.
• Encourage positive behaviour and independence.
• Adapt quickly to different classroom environments.
• Work effectively with teachers and other support staff.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
• Provide reliable support at short notice.

Qualifications/Experience

• Previous UK school experience is desirable.
• SEN experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience supporting autism, ADHD, SEMH, or challenging behaviour would be beneficial.
• Reliable and flexible approach.
• Strong communication skills.
• Patient and adaptable personality.
• Ability to quickly establish positive relationships.
• Valid DBS on the Update Service is desirable.
