NDT Technician

TankBuilder Limited specialises in the manufacturing of high-quality buffer tanks. Due to continued business expansion, we are seeking a skilled and experienced NDT Technician to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will carry out non-destructive testing and inspection of welded components and fabricated assemblies to ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications and applicable quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out non-destructive testing of materials, welds, and fabricated components using methods appropriate to the job requirements and the technician’s qualifications.
• Accurately read and interpret technical drawings, inspection procedures, and manufacturing specifications.
• Identify, evaluate, and report defects or inconsistencies against the specified acceptance criteria.
• Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain testing records.
• Work closely with the welding and fabrication team to resolve quality issues and inspect completed repairs.
• Check and maintain inspection equipment, ensuring calibration requirements are met.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping in the workshop.
• Work effectively both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in non-destructive testing and inspection within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Relevant NDT qualifications or certifications appropriate to the inspection methods used.
• Experience inspecting welded steel components and fabricated assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and inspection specifications accurately.
• Good understanding of welding defects, testing procedures, and quality control processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Experience in tank manufacturing is an advantage but not essential.
