The Role We are seeking to appoint an exemplary Junior School class teacher to inspire and nurture the children in our school. The successful candidate will bring a flair for excellence in teaching and learning and a commitment to developing the whole child through quality pastoral care. Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning
Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, positive and purposeful learning environment where all students can thrive. Plan and deliver a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum aligned with school expectations, year group planning and agreed learning outcomes. Differentiate learning to meet the needs, abilities and interests of all learners, including those requiring additional support or challenge. Promote high standards of behaviour, achievement and personal development in line with school values and expectations. Use digital technologies and AI purposefully and responsibly to enhance teaching, learning and assessment. Embed metacognitive approaches that enable students to plan, monitor and evaluate their learning, developing increasingly independent and self-regulated learners. Integrate the Tanglin 10 learning behaviours across teaching and learning, enabling students to recognise, develop and apply these dispositions independently.
- Curriculum Development and Professional Collaboration
Contribute actively to year group, subject and cross-school curriculum planning. Support the development, review and continuous improvement of curriculum programmes and learning experiences. Collaborate with colleagues across the Junior School and wider school community to share expertise and promote best practice. Contribute to the implementation of school initiatives, strategic priorities and improvement projects. Participate fully in the school's professional growth and review processes. Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflection and inquiry to continually enhance practice and student outcomes. Participate in peer observations, coaching and collaborative professional learning opportunities. Support and contribute to the professional growth of colleagues where appropriate.
- Assessment, Recording and Reporting
Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform teaching. Maintain accurate and meaningful records of student learning, achievement and wellbeing. Analyse assessment data to identify next steps and support individual student progress. Provide timely, constructive and actionable feedback to students. Communicate student progress and achievement clearly to parents through reports, conferences and other school communication channels. Contribute to the development and moderation of assessment practices across the year group and school.
- Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care
Promote the wellbeing, personal development and emotional resilience of every student. Establish positive and respectful relationships that support students' sense of belonging and inclusion. Identify and respond appropriately to students' pastoral, social and emotional needs. Work collaboratively with learning support, pastoral and safeguarding teams to ensure students receive appropriate support. Uphold the school's safeguarding responsibilities and report concerns in line with established procedures. Model and promote the school's values of Respect, Responsibility and Purpose in all interactions.
- Communication and Partnerships
Develop positive, productive and professional relationships with parents and carers. Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student learning, wellbeing and development. Collaborate with colleagues, specialist teachers and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students. Participate actively in meetings, professional discussions and school events. Contribute to strengthening partnerships across the school community.
- Co-curricular and Community Engagement
Contribute to the rich co-curricular life of the school through participation in, and leadership of, activities, performances, trips and residential experiences, as required by the school. Undertake supervision and duty responsibilities. Support and promote the school's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Contribute positively to the culture and ethos of the Junior School and the wider Tanglin community.
