Join our Operating Theatre team and play an important role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you will assist in preparing operating theatres, supporting patient transfers, and maintaining a clean and organised surgical environment.
This role is suitable for individuals who are dependable, attentive to details, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Support patient care activities before, during and after surgical procedures.
- Prepare operating theatres according to the daily surgical schedule.
- Check, maintain, and ensure readiness of operating theatre equipment.
- Collect, bag, and clear soiled linen from operating theatres, disposal areas, and changing rooms.
- Segregate and dispose of general and biohazard waste in accordance with established safety protocols.
- Transport patients safely between wards and the operating theatre.
- Perform despatch and logistical support duties as required.
- Replenish, organise, and maintain operating theatre supplies and inventory.
- Adhere to infection control, workplace safety, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Secondary education or equivalent qualification.
- Able to work rotating 3-shift schedules, including weekends and public holidays.
- Able to perform duties that involve prolonged standing, walking, pushing equipment, and assisting with patient transfers.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Attentive to hygiene, infection control, and safety standards.
