About the company

Taman Rama School, part of the Taman Mahatma Gandhi Foundation, is seeking a Pustakawan (Librarian) to join our educational institution in Denpasar, Bali. This is a full-time position based on-site at our school campus. As Pustakawan, you will play a vital role in fostering a culture of learning and information literacy amongst our students and staff. You will manage and develop our school library collections, services, and programmes, ensuring they align with our educational mission and support the academic success of our diverse student community. This position is integral to enhancing the learning environment and supporting curriculum delivery across all year groups.

Your tasks

• Manage the daily operations of the school library, including cataloguing, classification, and organisation of library materials using appropriate systems
• Develop and maintain diverse collections of books, digital resources, multimedia materials and reference materials that support the school curriculum
• Provide information literacy instruction and library orientation programmes to students and staff
• Assist students and staff in locating and accessing information resources for research, assignments and independent learning
• Plan and deliver engaging library programmes, reading initiatives and literacy events to promote a culture of reading and learning
• Collaborate with teaching staff to support curriculum integration and provide resources that align with learning objectives
• Manage library budgets, process acquisitions, and evaluate the effectiveness of library collections and services
• Maintain library facilities, equipment and technology systems to ensure a welcoming and functional learning space
• Keep abreast of developments in library science, information management and educational best practices
• Support student research skills development and guide them in evaluating and using information ethically

Requirements

• A qualification in Library Science, Information Management, or equivalent professional certification recognised in the education sector
• Proven experience working in a school library or educational setting, ideally within an international or multicultural environment
• Strong knowledge of library classification systems, cataloguing standards and information management practices
• Proficiency with library management software and digital resource platforms
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse age groups and cultural backgrounds
• Passion for promoting literacy, learning and information access amongst young people
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, administrative teams and the wider school community
• Fluency in English and Indonesian; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous
• Experience with technology integration in library services and familiarity with digital learning resources
• A commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming library environment that supports all learners
