European Road Freight Groupage Operator
Location: Tamworth Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm Job type: Full-time, permanent
The Role
We are recruiting an experienced Groupage Operator to manage European road freight movements across import and export services.
You will be responsible for coordinating shipments from collection through to final delivery, maintaining high service levels and working closely with customers, European partners, suppliers, warehouse teams and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage European import and export groupage shipments from start to finish
- Plan linehaul movements and ensure shipments are loaded onto the earliest available departures
- Help maximise trailer capacity and operational efficiency
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of international trailers with warehouse teams
- Liaise with European partners and suppliers regarding collections and deliveries
- Provide accurate shipment updates to customers and internal teams
- Identify and resolve delays, transit issues and service problems
- Prepare manifests, CMRs, transit documents and customs declarations
- Ensure shipment documentation is accurate and uploaded to internal systems
- Cost and charge shipments within the required timescales
- Recover additional charges and process supplier invoices
- Monitor shipments for potential financial losses or operational concerns
- Work closely with sales and operational teams to maintain strong customer and supplier relationships
About You
The successful candidate should have previous experience in European road freight, ideally covering groupage import and export operations.
You will be organised, commercially aware and confident managing multiple shipments. Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills are essential.
Knowledge of transport documentation, customs processes and international road freight procedures would be highly beneficial.
