Ocean Export Operator

Location: Romford, Essex

Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday

Working arrangement: Office based

We are recruiting an experienced Ocean Export Operator to join an established freight forwarding business in Romford.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ocean export shipments from initial booking through to final destination, ensuring customers receive a professional and reliable service throughout.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing ocean export shipments from start to finish
• Handling both FCL and LCL export bookings
• Liaising with customers, shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents
• Obtaining rates and producing customer quotations
• Making bookings and coordinating collections
• Preparing and checking bills of lading and export documentation
• Monitoring vessel schedules, cut-off dates and shipment milestones
• Coordinating customs clearance instructions
• Tracking shipments and providing regular customer updates
• Resolving delays and operational issues
• Completing job costing, invoicing and general file administration
• Maintaining accurate information within internal freight systems

Experience Required

• Previous ocean export experience within freight forwarding
• Good knowledge of FCL and LCL export procedures
• Confident managing shipments from booking through to completion
• Understanding of bills of lading and shipping documentation
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• Ability to manage a busy workload and competing priorities
• Customs knowledge would be advantageous
