Location: Basildon, Essex Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum DOE Hours: Monday to Friday Working arrangement: Office based

We are recruiting an experienced Multimodal Import & Export Operator to join a well-established freight forwarding business in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience coordinating international shipments across air, ocean and road freight. You will manage shipments from start to finish while providing a reliable, professional service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing import and export shipments across air, ocean and road freight
• Handling bookings from initial instruction through to final delivery
• Liaising with customers, overseas agents, airlines, shipping lines and hauliers
• Preparing and checking shipping documentation
• Providing quotations and securing competitive rates
• Coordinating customs clearance instructions
• Tracking shipments and providing customers with regular updates
• Arranging collections and final deliveries
• Resolving operational issues and shipment delays
• Completing job costing, invoicing and file administration
• Maintaining accurate records within internal freight systems

Experience Required

• Previous freight forwarding experience is essential
• Import and export experience across multiple transport modes
• Good understanding of air, ocean and road freight procedures
• Confident managing shipments from start to finish
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
• Customs knowledge would be advantageous
