Technical Superintendent LNG
Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical performance, reliability, and safe operation of assigned LNG carriers.
- Monitor vessel machinery condition, maintenance standards, and planned maintenance activities to ensure operational readiness.
- Coordinate vessel repairs, dry-docking, upgrades, and technical projects within approved schedules and budgets.
- Review technical reports, defect lists, machinery performance data, and maintenance records to identify issues requiring corrective action.
- Guide Chief Engineers and vessel teams on troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and technical best practices.
- Ensure vessels comply with applicable class requirements, flag-state regulations, statutory standards, and LNG-related safety requirements.
- Manage technical budgets, operating expenses, spare parts requirements, and repair expenditures for assigned vessels.
- Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, equipment makers, contractors, and service providers on technical matters.
- Support inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root-cause analysis while following through on corrective and preventive measures.
- Evaluate vessel performance and recommend improvements to machinery efficiency, reliability, fuel consumption, and overall asset condition.
Requirements
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline; Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency is preferred.
- Minimum 5–10 years of seagoing experience aboard LNG carriers, as an LNG Technical Superintendent or Chief Engineer on LNG vessels
- Strong knowledge of LNG carrier machinery, propulsion systems, cargo-related equipment, planned maintenance, dry-docking, class requirements, and maritime regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple vessels and technical priorities effectively.
