Production Technician

Job Summary

The Production Technician is responsible for operating, setting up, monitoring and performing basic maintenance of cable manufacturing machinery to support daily production requirements. The role ensures that cable products are manufactured according to production schedules, work instructions, quality standards and safety requirements.

The incumbent will monitor production processes, perform machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting, maintain production records and support continuous improvement activities. Relevant hands-on experience in cable manufacturing processes and machinery is required for this position. Job Description :

Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on working experience in cable manufacturing production is required, due to the specialised machinery, production processes and technical requirements of the role.

• Perform machine setup, parameter adjustment and process monitoring to maintain stable production and product quality.
• Monitor production conditions and identify abnormalities, defects or process deviations during production.
• Carry out basic machine troubleshooting, adjustment and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure production orders are completed according to required quantity, quality and delivery schedules.
• Inspect and identify semi-finished and finished cable products according to work orders and specifications.
• Record production data, machine parameters, material usage and other required information accurately.
• Monitor material usage and production waste and support initiatives to improve productivity and reduce wastage.
• Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, 5S practices and production control requirements.
• Support machine OEE, productivity improvement and continuous improvement activities.
• Report machine abnormalities, quality issues and production problems promptly to the Section Leader or Supervisor.
• Stop or escalate production where necessary when significant quality or safety issues are identified.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the work area is safe, clean and organised.
• Carry out other production-related duties, improvement activities or projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Relevant hands-on experience in cable manufacturing production is required due to the specialised machinery and production processes involved in the role.

• Practical knowledge of cable manufacturing processes and production machinery.
• Experience in operating, setting up, adjusting or monitoring cable production equipment.
• Able to perform basic machine troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
• Able to understand production specifications, work instructions and basic technical information.
• Able to monitor process parameters and identify production abnormalities.
• Able to perform basic numerical calculations and maintain accurate production records.
• Knowledge of workplace safety, 5S and manufacturing quality practices.
• Knowledge of OEE or production improvement activities would be an advantage.
• Able to work effectively with production team members and communicate operational or quality issues clearly.
• Able to carry out the operational requirements of the role in a manufacturing environment involving production machinery and noise.
• Able to work on the applicable production shift arrangement where required.
