Responsibilities:

Group Accounting & Consolidation:

 Oversee accounting activities across the Group and its subsidiaries.

Review subsidiary accounts and ensure compliance with approved accounting policies and procedures.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial reports.

Perform intercompany reconciliations and appropriately eliminate intercompany balances and transactions.

Maintain accurate records of the Group’s assets, liabilities, income, and expenditure.

Ensure proper accounting treatment for capital projects, investments, and major assets.

Prepare monthly management accounts and financial performance reports.

Provide management with clear analysis of revenue, expenses, cash flow, profitability, and financial position.

Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.

Develop and maintain financial reports and dashboards for the Group and individual subsidiaries.

Financial Controls:

Enforce appropriate accounting and financial controls across the Group.

Review payment documentation, approvals, reconciliations, and supporting records.

Ensure proper segregation of duties and authorization controls.

Monitor cash movements and subsidiary funding.

Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and supported.

Treasury & Cash Management

Monitor Group and subsidiary bank accounts.

Prepare cash-flow forecasts.

Monitor cash requirements and funding between subsidiaries and the Group.

Maintain proper records of intercompany loans, advances, and capital injections.

Support management in major funding and cash-management decisions.

Tax, Audit & Statutory Compliance:

Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisers.

Ensure accounting records are maintained in an audit-ready condition.

Coordinate preparation of schedules and supporting documentation required for audits.

Monitor statutory tax and financial reporting obligations.

Liaise with relevant professional advisers and regulatory bodies when required.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Payroll Oversight:

Monitor accounts payable and receivable across subsidiaries.

Review supplier balances and outstanding receivables.

Ensure timely reconciliations.

Oversee payroll accounting and related statutory deductions.

Monitor staff advances, loans, and other employee-related balances.

Asset & Capital Project Accounting:

Maintain the Group’s fixed asset register.

Ensure appropriate capitalization and depreciation of qualifying assets.

Monitor major capital expenditures and project-related payments.

Reconcile project expenditure with approved budgets.

Ensure proper documentation of Group-owned assets and assets purchased or held by subsidiaries.

Systems, Policies & Process Improvement:

Develop and implement standardized accounting procedures across the Group.

Ensure subsidiaries use consistent accounting practices and reporting formats.

Improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and financial controls.

Support implementation or improvement of accounting software/ERP systems.

Maintain proper financial documentation and records.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is strongly preferred.

Minimum 4–8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a Group, holding company, or multi-subsidiary environment.

Experience preparing consolidated financial statements or Group management accounts.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.

Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.

Experience working with external auditors and tax advisers.

Strong Excel and accounting software skills.

Experience with ERP/accounting systems will be an advantage.

Experience in any combination of mining, agriculture, hospitality, energy, or other asset-intensive businesses will be an advantage.
