Data Analyst / Researcher
Cancer Society of Finland / Finnish Cancer Registry is looking for a person to contribute to developing Finnish Cancer Registry’s cancer screening statistics data pipelines, data products and dashboards.
We are looking for someone with a solid knowledge of R and a practical attitude to join our team until the end of June 2028. The employment contract is for 18 months from 1.1.2027 to 30.6.2028.
The work sits at the intersection of statistical analysis, data visualisation, and public health research — specifically cancer screening. Interest or background in public health matters is an advantage.
You work as part of the EUCanScreen project, that is focused on developing data analysis pipelines for multinational federated analysis for cancer screening research and programme monitoring.
Working language is English (required) and Finnish is considered a plus.
What you'll be doing:
Building, improving and maintaining dashboards and data pipelines, that are built primarily with R. Knowledge of R is necessary, but solutions are not strictly limited to R.
Managing code with Git and applying agentic AI programming tools.
Figuring out new solutions for existing data products or inventing new data products.
We're looking for a person who has
General knowledge of scripting, data visualisation and data wrangling, especially in R.
Understanding of statistics.
Basic knowledge on relational databases and SQL.
Master’s degree, preferably in computer science, data science, statistics or similar.
Considered plus
Knowledge of statistical methods used in epidemiology.
Experience on Linux, Docker and reproducible scientific programming.
