For a long\-term project within a leading international financial institution in Basel, we are looking for an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join an Advanced Analytics \& AI team.

• Design and develop AI\-driven applications and software architectures using
• Build and deploy Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) applications
• Develop testing and evaluation methodologies for LLM\-based solutions
• Work with Azure OpenAI APIs and related AI services
• Develop RAG and agent\-based AI solutions for different business use cases
• Explore, preprocess and integrate large structured and unstructured datasets
• Build APIs and interfaces to integrate AI solutions into existing platforms
• Ensure applications are production\-ready through testing, CI/CD, monitoring and observability
• Monitor, maintain and continuously improve deployed AI applications
• Collaborate closely with technical teams and business stakeholders

About the customer:

You will work alongside AI Engineers, Data Engineers and Quantitative Developers to design and build production\-ready AI and Generative AI applications. The role combines strong software engineering with hands\-on experience in LLMs, RAG, AI agents and modern cloud technologies.

Framework:

• Location: Basel, Switzerland
• Homeoffice: 50% within Switzerland
• Workload: 100%
• Start: 1 December 2026
• Duration: 24 months
• Contract: Temporary / Contract

Requirements:

• Around 5\+ years of professional Software Engineering experience, with recent hands\-on experience as an AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer or similar
• Strong development skills and experience building production\-grade applications
• Proven experience developing and deploying Generative AI / LLM solutions
• Hands\-on experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex or comparable frameworks
• Experience with prompt engineering and LLM evaluation
• Practical experience with AI agents / agentic AI frameworks
• Familiarity with RAG architectures and vector databases such as ChromaDB or Weaviate
• Experience with cloud environments, ideally Microsoft Azure / Azure OpenAI
• understanding of CI/CD, monitoring, performance analysis and application support
• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong English communication skill

Nice to have:

• Experience with FastAPI, Flask or Django
• Docker or other containerisation technologies
• Streamlit or Plotly Dash
• SQL and NoSQL databases
• Graph databases and graph\-based data representations
• Front\-end technologies such as React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• Previous experience within banking or financial services
• Contributions to AI/ML open\-source projects or relevant AI certifications
• Master's or PhD in a relevant technical field
