Subject Description The subject of animal reproduction covers the fertility and reproduction of domesticated animals. It includes the subdisciplines of andrology, gynecology, obstetrics, diseases of the puerperium, as well as biotechnology, endocrinology, and toxicology relevant to the subject. Duties Within the subject of the employment, the holder shall develop and lead internationally successful research. develop, lead, and participate in teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels primarily teach within animal reproduction, but also in other educational components at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels where the subject is included develop and maintain national and international networks with academia, relevant authorities, industries, organizations, and society at large collaborate with other research groups within SLU to strengthen the university's interdisciplinary activities apply for external research funding at both national and international levels supervise doctoral and candidate students during specialist training participate actively in clinical work and teaching contribute to the strategic development of the department, faculty, and SLU communicate research results and other relevant subject information to the surrounding society perform administrative tasks within the department, faculty, and university.
The department has a parallel-language work environment. The Associate Professor will be able to perform most of their duties in English. As an authority, the university has Swedish as its main language according to the requirements of the Language Acts, and the holder is expected to be able to communicate in Swedish within four years of commencing employment. The department will support the holder in achieving this. Qualifications The applicant shall have a veterinary degree and Swedish veterinary license, or be entitled to obtain such a license in accordance with current applicable legislation, regulations, and directives* have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence within a subject relevant to the employment have scientific competence within the subject of the employment be pedagogically skilled and have the ability to integrate research and a scientific approach into their teaching have experience in teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels have documented clinical experience within a subject relevant to the employment have good knowledge of English

Assessment Criteria As assessment criteria for employment, the degree of competence required for qualification for employment shall, in the first instance, apply. When assessing scientific competence, the following shall be considered: conducted research efforts and ongoing research within the subject of the employment the ability to independently initiate and conduct successful, internationally recognized research the ability to obtain external research funding through competition associate professor competence (docent) or equivalent scientific competence within a subject relevant to the employment possession of international specialist competence (diplomate) within a subject relevant to the employment experience as a supervisor in research education.
When assessing pedagogical skill, the following shall be considered: planning, implementation, examination, and evaluation of one's own teaching experience in both theoretical and clinical teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels supervision and examination at undergraduate and advanced levels the ability to integrate research and a scientific approach into pedagogical work higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge pedagogical vision and reflection.
Furthermore, skill in the following shall be considered: developing and leading operations and personnel within academia communicating and collaborating internally collaborating with external stakeholders and surrounding society communicating research and development work
