Postdoc - Gender, environment and rural development in Europe
Department of Urban and Rural Studies The Department of Urban and Rural Studies offers a stimulating research environment. Research and teaching at the department are conducted across four departments: agrarian history, rural development, landscape architecture, and environmental communication. The position is located within the department of rural development, which consists of two subject areas: rural development in the global south and rural development in Sweden and Europe. An international master's programme in rural development and natural resource management, as well as a five-year professional programme in agronomy with a focus on rural development, are offered at the department.
Subject description: The position is within the subject of rural development in Sweden and Europe. The project application should contribute a feminist perspective to issues of rural development in Europe and their global interconnectedness in contexts such as changes in agriculture, global environment and climate management, issues regarding indigenous peoples and resource management, or migration and welfare policy. Applicants must write a research project proposal of 2000-5000 words in English. In the application, specific questions must be formulated within one of the broader areas mentioned here, and also demonstrate how the project addresses issues of justice.
Duties: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join and develop our research group in rural development in Sweden and Europe. Your duties will be to identify the most important knowledge gaps within your research field, and to contribute a critical and feminist perspective to work on rural development and/or environmental issues through fieldwork. You will also actively participate in the department's academic activities and contribute to building up the subject.
Qualifications: PhD within social sciences or humanities. Documented expertise within the chosen research project and skills in how to conduct fieldwork are required. You must also have a documented capacity to conduct independent research and be able to write scientific publications. Excellent knowledge of English is required.
Since employment as a postdoc constitutes a qualifying position for junior researchers, we are primarily addressing those who have a doctoral degree that is no older than three years.
