Department of Clinical Sciences

The University Animal Hospital (UDS) at the Department of Clinical Sciences (KV) is SLU's center for clinical research and education. At UDS, veterinary students, veterinarians, and veterinary nurses receive practical training while clinical research is actively conducted. The management works towards a forward-looking and supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to develop their competencies and interests through continuous professional development. As an employee, you are offered, among other things, a wellness allowance and a regular working time of 39 hours per week.

We are now seeking a clinically active veterinarian with broad experience in small animal care and anesthesiology. Welcome with your application!

About the job

Your main tasks will include responsibility for patients and patient safety in daily clinical work, as well as supervision of students, primarily within anesthesia and analgesia at UDS but also in the ICU department. Participation in on-call and emergency activities is also included in the employment.

In daily work, you will be actively engaged in the clinical training of veterinary students and clinical veterinarians. You will also provide support and guidance to veterinary nurses.

There is an opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research, and you may also participate in lectures, small group teaching, and examination of veterinary students. An important part of the employment is to provide advice to and collaborate with veterinarians in other specialties, such as intensive care and inpatient care. Regular consultations with veterinarians, including referring veterinarians, are also included in the duties.

Your background

You have a veterinary degree from a university in Sweden, another EU/EEA country, or Switzerland and are authorized to practice the veterinary profession in Sweden. It is meritorious, but not a requirement, if you are a licensed national (Step 2) or international specialist within the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) or the American equivalent (ACVAA).

Teaching and research experience in the field is meritorious.

You command English well and speak either a Scandinavian language or are willing to learn Swedish within approximately 2–3 years.

Great importance will be placed on personal qualities. We value a professional approach as well as being flexible, appreciating teamwork, and wanting to work towards a smooth flow in the operating department.
