Education:
Registered Apprenticeship certificate.
Tasks:
- Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
- Clean and lubricate cranes.
- Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures.
- Instruct apprentices.
- Perform routine maintenance work.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :
Mobile Crane Operator Red Seal Certificate.
Type of cranes:
Conventional cable crane, tracked. Hydraulic or telescoping boom. Pile driver.
Security and safety:
Driver's validity licence check.
Transportation/travel information:
Own vehicle. Willing to travel. Valid driver's licence. Travel expenses paid by employer.
Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Sitting.
Own tools/equipment:
Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat.
