Urban Planner
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include responding to tasks within the team to develop urban design and planning concepts and translate them into clear and compelling graphic images to convey design solutions in complete documentation.
Develop planning solutions that effectively address the social, economic, and environmental implications of the physical form; modify and/or review proposals based on effective design principles for livable and conducive environments.
Apply and conform to standard City and Regional Planning guidelines where necessary.
Apply best practices in urban planning and design techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications on projects.
Independently support the team in delivering projects primarily involving master planning or urban design input, in coordination with team leaders.
Create innovative design solutions and support task management for projects involving urban design and planning concepts, and translate them into clear and compelling graphic images.
Develop solutions that effectively address the social, legal, and economic implications of the physical form; modify and/or review drawings, construction documentation, and detailing.
Confer with design teams during reviews regarding design schemes, proposals, and approvals.
Assist in coordinating and consulting with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies on the scope and impact of projects when necessary.
Assist in preparing, reviewing, correcting, and updating work documents.
Assist in managing scopes, schedules, and budgets where necessary.
At least 20% travel is anticipated.
Provide assistance in reporting project activities to senior management.
Assist the team in handling day-to-day communications with clients and managing client expectations.
Assist in preparing project showcases and proposals as part of marketing and promotion efforts to attract clients and seek approvals from authorities.
Other responsibilities include assisting in R&D, office automation, drafting and editing reports, BD write-ups, publications, event coordination, and the preparation of marketing and promotional materials.
Requirements
- Degree in a related field, with preference for a background in Architecture or Urban Planning/Design.
- Minimum 3 years of working experience and knowledge of multiple design software.
- Familiarity with global urban planning processes and, in particular, knowledge of Singapore planning methodologies and their application in an international context.
