QA/QC Engineer (Welding)

Position Overview

The QA/QC Engineer(Welding) is responsible for on-site quality inspections for M&E projects, welding quality control, preparation and submission of inspection documentation, and follow-up and closure of quality issues. The candidate must possess practical on-site quality inspection and welding inspection capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site QA/QC inspections and quality management for M&E projects.
• Ensure construction works comply with approved Shop Drawings, Specifications, Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and project quality requirements.
• Conduct on-site quality inspections for piping, equipment, and related welding works, including inspection of weld appearance, dimensions, installation quality, and relevant inspection records.
• Review and verify welding quality documents and their implementation on site, including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualifications.
• Prepare, submit, and follow up on WIR,RFI, MIR, Inspection Requests, NCRs, Checklists, and other related QA/QC documentation.
• Coordinate with the Main Contractor, Consultants, and Client for site inspections and follow up on rectification works, re-inspections, and final closure of quality issues.
• Inspect incoming materials and verify product certificates, test reports, and material approval documents.
• Coordinate and support Pressure Tests, Leak Tests, Flushing, Testing & Commissioning, including the preparation and maintenance of relevant test records.
• Monitor the workmanship and construction quality of site teams and subcontractors, and promptly raise rectification requirements for any non-conforming works.
• Complete daily and weekly site quality inspections and prepare quality issue tracking reports.

Requirements

• Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, M&E Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of QA/QC experience in M&E construction or industrial projects.
• Possess a recognised welding inspection qualification such as CSWIP 3.1, CSWIP 3.2, or an equivalent recognised certification.
• Good knowledge of welding inspection, WPS, PQR, Welder Qualifications, and related welding quality requirements.
• Familiar with M&E construction drawings, Shop Drawings, Specifications, and site inspection procedures.
• Able to independently perform on-site quality inspections and QA/QC documentation work.
• Able to communicate and coordinate effectively with the Main Contractor, Consultants, Client, and their QA/QC personnel.
• Possess strong communication skills and the ability to read relevant technical documents.
• Proactive, responsible, and willing to work on construction sites on a long-term basis.
• Candidates with experience in semiconductor plants, data centres, cleanrooms, or large-scale industrial projects will be given preference.
