As we scale, we are looking for a technically strong and hands-on Senior Solar Engineer / Solar Technical Expert who can serve as the company's centre of expertise for solar technology while providing practical support to installation, operations, maintenance, customer experience and sales teams.

This is a hybrid field and office-based role. The successful candidate will spend significant time on project sites supporting technical execution and troubleshooting, while also owning regulatory permitting, technical standards, training, solar design support and technology development.

The role will initially be an individual contributor position, with the potential over time to take on broader leadership responsibility for installation and maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Support for Solar Installations

Provide hands-on technical support to Project Managers, installation teams and contractors across Sunollo's residential solar projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review technical drawings, system specifications, rooftop layouts and electrical designs.
  • Provide technical guidance to Project Managers and installation teams before and during installation.
  • Attend project sites where additional technical expertise is required.
  • Troubleshoot complex installation, electrical, inverter, battery or commissioning issues.
  • Support teams in resolving technical challenges relating to cabling, wiring, connections, electrical protection, system configuration and commissioning.
  • Review and guide teams on technically complex or non-standard installations.
  • Support testing, commissioning and system activation where required.
  • Help ensure installations comply with Sunollo technical standards, manufacturer requirements and applicable Singapore regulations.
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for installation teams and Project Managers.

This role is not primarily responsible for project scheduling or overall project management. Its focus is to provide the technical expertise required to enable successful project delivery

  1. Solar Permitting, Regulatory Approvals & Documentation

Own the technical and operational coordination of solar permits and regulatory approvals for Sunollo projects in Singapore.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for solar permitting and approval processes.
  • Coordinate submissions and technical correspondence with relevant authorities and industry stakeholders.
  • Ensure permit and approval documentation is accurate, complete and submitted on time.
  • Review technical drawings and Single-Line Diagrams prior to submission.
  • Verify electrical information, system configuration and technical documentation.
  • Support and coordinate submissions relating to applicable solar forms and approvals, including relevant CS, PV and commissioning documentation.
  • Ensure technical queries raised by authorities are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Work closely with Licensed Electrical Workers, designers, Project Managers, customers and external partners to ensure smooth approvals.
  • Track permitting progress and proactively resolve technical or documentation issues that could delay project completion.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Singapore solar regulations, grid connection requirements and approval processes.
  1. Technical Customer Support & Reactive Maintenance

Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues affecting existing customer solar systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Customer Experience team in diagnosing and resolving technical customer complaints.
  • Investigate system outages, alarms, alerts, inverter faults, battery issues and system performance concerns.
  • Conduct site visits where physical inspection or technical diagnosis is required.
  • Troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Guide maintenance teams and external contractors on technical resolution.
  • Ensure escalated technical cases are resolved within agreed service-level expectations.
  • Explain technical issues and proposed solutions to homeowners in clear, simple and professional language.
  • Support customer communication where technical explanation is required.
  • Assist with non-complex maintenance cases when additional operational capacity is required.
  • Capture root causes and learnings from recurring customer issues.

The objective is to ensure technical issues are resolved quickly, correctly and to the satisfaction of the customer

  1. Preventive Maintenance Standards

Define and continuously improve Sunollo's technical standards for preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define the technical inspection standards for scheduled maintenance visits.
  • Create and maintain preventive maintenance checklists.
  • Define what should be inspected, tested and recorded during maintenance.
  • Establish technical acceptance criteria and escalation requirements.
  • Ensure maintenance teams understand and correctly execute Sunollo maintenance standards.
  • Train external maintenance partners on technical inspection and troubleshooting requirements.
  • Periodically review maintenance findings to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Improve maintenance procedures based on operating experience and equipment performance.
  1. Solar Technical Centre of Excellence

Build and strengthen solar technical capability across Sunollo and its external ecosystem.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for solar PV technology and electrical systems.
  • Develop technical training materials, SOPs, checklists and reference guides.
  • Train and onboard new installation teams and EPC partners.
  • Train installation teams on panels, inverters, batteries, connections, cabling, commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Build the technical capabilities of maintenance partners.
  • Provide technical onboarding for new Operations team members.
  • Deliver relevant solar and product training to new Sales team members.
  • Help Sales teams accurately understand and communicate technical concepts to customers.
  • Coach internal and external teams on recurring technical gaps.
  • Build a structured technical knowledge base for Sunollo.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Technical Standards

Drive improvement across installation, maintenance and technical operating processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify recurring installation and maintenance issues.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Improve technical SOPs based on operating experience.
  • Standardise installation and maintenance practices.
  • Improve commissioning and handover processes.
  • Develop technical quality standards and checklists.
  • Reduce installation defects, repeat visits and technical escalations.
  • Share technical learnings across teams and vendors.

Key Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured through:

Candidate Profile

Education

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering; or
  • Degree or Diploma in Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, Sustainable Energy or Green Energy; or
  • Other relevant Engineering qualification.

Candidates with strong practical solar experience combined with relevant technical qualifications may also be considered.

Experience

Preferably 5+ years of relevant technical experience in areas such as:

  • Rooftop solar PV
  • Solar EPC

Strong practical experience with residential or commercial rooftop solar installations is highly desirable.
