Job Purpose
To support the growth of the Securitisation (SSG) business across Australia and APAC through the origination, execution, monitoring and development of securitisation and structured finance transactions. The role is responsible for conducting financial analysis, credit assessment, transaction execution, portfolio monitoring and supporting business and product development initiatives, while ensuring adherence to internal policies, risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Origination, Structuring & Execution
- Support the origination, structuring, execution and ongoing management of securitisation and structured finance transactions across Asia Pacific.
- Promote structured finance and securitisation products through marketing, origination and distribution activities.
- Execute assigned transactions from initial assessment through closing and post-closing monitoring.
- Prepare term sheets, offer letters, financing proposals and other transaction-related materials.
- Conduct due diligence reviews and prepare transaction assessment reports.
- Review financing agreements, security documents and transaction documentation, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel where required.
- Review independent due diligence reports and third-party assessments relating to financing and distribution activities.
Credit Analysis & Risk Assessment
- Perform detailed credit, financial, industry and market analysis to support new and existing transactions.
- Develop and maintain financial models and cash flow forecasts to evaluate transaction structures and risks.
- Prepare credit applications, approval memoranda and supporting documentation for internal credit approval processes.
- Analyse underlying asset performance, transaction structures and key credit risks.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks or deterioration in credit quality.
- Present clear and well-supported credit recommendations and transaction analyses to internal stakeholders.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, branch teams, Head Office departments, SMBC Group companies and other business partners.
- Coordinate across business units to deliver value-added solutions and high-quality client service.
- Collect and analyse market intelligence, industry trends, legal developments and regulatory changes relevant to the business.
- Support customer-focused initiatives and contribute to maintaining high service standards.
- Foster collaboration and teamwork in line with the "TEAM SMBC/SMFG" philosophy.
Business Development & Strategic Initiatives
- Support the achievement of business, revenue and strategic objectives in accordance with the Bank's risk and compliance framework.
- Contribute to product development initiatives, new business opportunities and process improvement projects.
- Conduct market research and prepare management reports, business analyses and presentations as required.
- Support management in implementing strategic business initiatives and departmental objectives.
Risk Management, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies and risk management frameworks.
- Support ongoing portfolio monitoring, credit review and risk reporting activities.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and compliance developments impacting the business.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports and documentation in a timely manner.
- Support governance, audit and control activities as required.
Administration & Internal Processes
- Maintain accurate transaction records, documentation and management information.
- Ensure adherence to internal procedures, operational controls and reporting requirements.
- Support departmental administrative activities and continuous process improvements.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and projects assigned by management.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in securitisation, structured finance, credit analysis, corporate banking, investment banking or capital markets.
- Strong financial analysis, credit assessment and financial modelling skills, with the ability to analyse transaction structures, legal documentation and underlying credit risks.
- Good understanding of banking products, structured finance transactions, credit risk principles and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg or other financial information platforms is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare credit papers, reports and presentations.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, regions and seniority levels.
- Self-motivated, highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
